Workers Compensation Hire A Lawyer To Help Answer Your Questions

After you’ve fallen or gotten injured at your job, an experienced attorney will tell you it’s important to make sure your employer knows within at least the first three months of the incident. If you wait any longer, you may lose your chance at getting workers compensation. This is just one of the many things a good lawyer can do for you. Discover how a lawyer can help you navigate your way during this scary time and answer questions or concerns you may have. One of the first concerns for most people dealing with a job injury is whether or not they will be paid during the time they’re out of work. Your lawyer will let you know you’re entitled to workers compensation for the days you’ve been out.In addition, some employers will encourage you to use a case manager and you’re not sure if you should do so. A skilled attorney will let you know that these people work with your employer’s insurance company. They will tell the insurance company any and everything you say to them or your doctor and they may not be completely on your side. The best bet is to hire your own attorney so you can feel confident this person is fighting for your best interest.Getting to and from doctor’s appointments, paying for gas, paying for medication and more can be expensive, especially if you’re not working full time. Your workers compensation lawyer will let you know that your employer should pay the bill when it comes to prescription meds as well as mileage to and from your doctors. In addition, if you need any type of assistance such as wheelchairs, scooters, hearing aids or more, your employer is responsible for this too.Furthermore, after being hurt at work, you may wonder if you’re entitled to your job once you’re able to work again. If your employer says you cannot get your job back, your lawyer will inform you otherwise. Bottom line, if your job is available, your employer must extend the offer to you again. Or, if there’s someone doing your job, your employer should come up with a position that you can do comfortably with your injuries.Bottom line, you have many rights after you’ve been hurt on your job. Yet, if you are unaware of these rights and don’t hire a lawyer, you could be in for a rude awakening. Your employer is looking out for his or her best interest. That’s why it’s necessary to hire a skilled workers compensation lawyer to represent you and help you get the proper answers to your questions.

China’s ‘Bandit King’ given life term in ‘massive’ bribery case

Saturday, May 19, 2012

Lai Changxing, dubbed the Bandit King, has been given a life sentence for years of smuggling and corruption that added up to billions of US dollars or Pounds sterling. The Chinese court described the values as “massive”.

Lai smuggled goods worth more than £2 billion into Xiamen, bypassing more than £1 billion in import duty. He paid 64 local officials a total of almost £4 million in bribes, giving him effective control of the city from 1995 to 1999. He fled China after becoming a wanted man in 1999 and went to Canada via Hong Kong; the following year, Premier Zhu Rongji said “If Lai was executed three times over, it would not be too much”.

As head of the Yuanhua Group, Lai smuggled in cars, chemicals, oil, cigarettes, and other goods. He distributed bundles of cash to the poor, owned and played for his local football team, built stadia, owned a bulletproof Mercedes that once belonged to President Jiang Zemin, and attempted to construct a tower that would have been the nation’s tallest building. He attained local popularity for funding construction projects including schools, hundreds of tower blocks, and the local airport.

As well as money, officials were offered alcohol and prostitutes. Many were offered time at Lai’s seven-storey brothel, the Red Mansion, and feasted at a replica of the Forbidden City.

State TV has broadcast footage depicting a banquet table with a tiger skin laid upon it, cars given to officials, a young woman alleged to have been donated as a lover, and a sackful of gold rings. The case’s prominence was such that Liu Liying, boss of the national Central Discipline Inspection Committee, took charge of bringing Lai down.

Subsequent investigations have examined more than 1,000 suspects with police at one stage turning over an entire hotel to the probe, filling rooms with suspects. National newspaper The People’s Daily has suggested it is the most serious economic crime in modern Chinese history. He was the nation’s top car importer and one of the main traders in oil and imported cigarettes.

Hundreds of officials have been convicted and it is estimated hundreds more remain. Fellow life-sentence prisoners from the case include the city’s deputy mayor and its head of customs. The nation’s former vice-minister for security, Li Jizhou, has a suspended death sentence. Other suspects have killed themselves.

The sums involved are unusually large, and the details are extraordinarily serious

Upon his escape from the nation Lai became China’s most-wanted fugitive. Twelve years of negotiations ended with a Chinese promise Lai would be spared the death penalty, and Canada extradited him last year. Numerous lower-ranking members of Lai’s empire have already been given life imprisonment or death sentences. With execution off the table, the court gave Lai the highest sentence possible: in addition to the life term, he received fifteen years for bribery and had all his possessions confiscated.

The court justified the “double sentence” on the grounds “the sums involved are unusually large, and the details are extraordinarily serious”. “The crimes involve massive sums and particularly serious circumstances,” court officials told Xinhua. Lai had denied corruption at his trial, although he accepted exploiting loopholes to avoid import duty.

“I don’t have a good family background,” Lai said previously in a press interview. “I have to do things step by step by myself. That’s how people came to respect me. I never fussed about big money.” Lai was born as one of eight siblings in the midst of famine.

Demonstrators protest Condoleezza Rice’s trip to Australia

Thursday, March 16, 2006

Anti-war demonstrators in Sydney, Australia on Thursday dubbed U.S. Secretary of State Dr Condoleezza Rice a “war criminal” and “murderer.” Two protesters were evicted and five people were arrested during protests against the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

Dr Rice, on a three-day trip to Australia, said she understood why people found it hard to be positive about Iraq when all they saw on their television screens was violence.

Soon after Rice began her speech at the University of Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music, two protesters shouted from the rear of the auditorium, “Condoleezza Rice, you are a war criminal,” and “Iraqi blood is on your hands and you cannot wash that blood away.” Standing with their palms towards her, the young man and woman repeated their accusation until security intervened to remove them from the hall.

About 15 minutes into Rice’s address, a third protester appeared at a balcony door, interrupting her speech as she referred to freedom. “What kind of freedom are you talking about? You are a murderer,” said the demonstrator before he was quietly escorted from the hall. “I’m very glad to see that democracy is well and alive here at the university,” she said.

In her speech, Rice sought to justify the U.S. occupation of Iraq, describing Iraqis as now more free. One student asked about abuses committed by U.S. forces at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. She said the abuses had made her “sick to her stomach.” However, she defended Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where human rights groups say detainees are held in inhumane conditions and in detention flouting international laws.

Before Rice began her speech, about 50 protesters were gathered at the front gates of the Conservatorium. The group were confronted by police on horseback and by police dogs. Police used the horses to charge into the group of activists and push them back, as a police helicopter hovered.

A police spokeswoman said the group was blocking pedestrian access to the building and that police had spent more than 20 minutes warning them to move. The police then moved in and pushed the crowd back 20 metres. Police say five people have been charged with “hindering police in the execution of their duties.”

The “Stop the War Coalition” says Rice is a “war criminal” and is not welcome in Australia. The group’s spokeswoman, Anna Samson, says the protest is one of many planned in the lead-up to the third anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Iraq on March 20.

Paddy Gibson, from the University of Sydney’s Student’s Council, says the protest is in opposition to the Iraq war, and to the use of the University of Sydney’s campus to host Rice, “the most powerful woman in the world,” who they say is a war criminal. “They’re saying, ‘… you’ve got Sydney Uni’s support to stand up and peddle your murderous hate speeches,’ which is what we see it,” he said.

“You’ve got 180,000 people killed, as we said, for no other reason than strategic control of the region’s oil resources. And the anti-Muslim racism that’s been whipped up to justify this war is being felt by Sydney University students,” said Mr Gibson.

Should I Call My Exboyfriend If He Hasn’t Called Me?}

Submitted by: Anthony Malibu

Getting your ex boyfriend back can be scary and frustrating. You might not know how he feels about you, and may question whether or not he even wants to date you again. In an effort to win him over, you’ll worry about when and how you should be making contact, as well as what you should say when you talk to your ex again. If your ex hasn’t called yet, here’s what you should know.

Breakups are always different, but the reconciliation process always starts the same way: re-establishing contact with your ex boyfriend. Should you contact your ex? How long should you wait? And are there ways of getting him to dial you up first? Many women are faced with the same problem after a breakup: My ex boyfriend hasn’t called me. This is invariably followed up with the same question: Should I call him?

Before worrying about whether or not you should get in touch with your ex, you’ll first need to establish a situation in which your boyfriend misses you. When he actually wants to hear from you again, the results of your exboyfriend contact will be much more favorable. There are two things you need to do before even considering making such a phone call, and they’re listed below:

Create The Illusion That You’re Totally Over The Relationship

Chasing after your boyfriend? He’s never going to want you back. It’s human nature to want the things we can’t have, so the minute your ex thinks you’re walking away from the relationship… this is also the exact moment he considers being with you again. Sound strange? In a way it is. But when you’re always hounding your ex and trying to get him to change his mind about breaking up with you, he knows that he can have you back at any time. While he knows this, he’s going to keep you on the back burner… while he enjoys single life.

If you want your boyfriend back, you can’t show it. Don’t write him love notes or leave cards on his windshield… don’t even let him know you’re sweating him. By walking cleanly away from the romance, you’re giving the impression that you have better things to do. Many women are worried that not showing an interest in your ex boyfriend will cause him to not show any future interest in you, but in actuality the opposite effect takes place. The more you ignore someone? The more they need to know

why

. The more you don’t seem like you need them, the more they need you.

Instead of sitting around wondering why my ex boyfriend hasn’t called me, you should be creating an atmosphere in which

he needs to call you

. By staying strong after the break up is a critical part of getting your ex back. Let him know you’ve accepted the breakup. Hell, make it known that you’ve even

embraced

it. Allow him to hear about how thrilled you are to be single again – through friends or family or co-workers… however you have to do it. Because once he gets that impression, you’ll become a hell of a lot more attractive to him again.

Surround Your New Life in Mystery by Breaking All Contact

Establishing that you’ve moved on is made all the more effective when you’ve completely stopped talking to your ex. Instead of asking yourself when should I call him, you should be wondering when is my ex boyfriend going to call me! The no contact rule means just that – no communication with your ex in any way, shape, or form. Don’t email your exboyfriend thinking it’s okay. Don’t send him even one little text-message, not even to wish him happy birthday. When you first break up, staying completely silent is the only way to get your ex interested in what you’re doing again. Because while you’re still around in plain view? You’re actually prolonging the break up.

When you’ve stopped communicating with your ex boyfriend, guess what happens? Your ex will start to miss you. He’ll start thinking that you’ve moved on to bigger and better things, and chances are good that his situation has stood still. This will cause him to question the breakup, and maybe even want to call it off. His decision to end things doesn’t look so good when he realizes you’re not chasing after him or trying to get him back, but that in fact you’ve moved on to the point where you’re not even talking to him anymore.

Getting Your Exboyfriend To Call You After The Breakup

After getting dumped, it’s not uncommon to struggle with the question of initiating contact. Should I call him? How long should I wait before calling or texting him? Making the mistake of chasing your boyfriend down can actually scare him away for good. Guys feel strange and awkward after breaking up with you, which is why they want to be left alone for a little while. Unfortunately, this is when many girls feel the pressing need to try the hardest, thinking they can somehow change their exboyfriend’s mind.

If you’re sitting by the phone wondering why my ex boyfriend hasn’t called me yet, it’s because he needs some space. Wondering if you should call him yourself is not a good idea. That being said, eventually you’ll have to somehow get back in touch… just not right now. In order to get back together with your ex, you’ll need to reconnect – and you’ll want to make sure you do it at the right time.

The best type of reconnection? One in which you get your ex boyfriend to call you. There are several methods you can use to accomplish this, and there are some really great techniques for making him curious about you again. Your goal is to put yourself back in your ex’s head, but to do it indirectly so you don’t seem like you’re trying too hard. Also, by making him genuinely need to know what you’re up to, you can get him to initiate contact by phone, email, text-message, or whatever.

North Korea fires balistic missile from submarine

Thursday, August 25, 2016

North Korea test fired a ballistic missile from a submarine yesterday, which landed in the Sea of Japan after traveling approximately 500 km (about 300 miles), according to officials of South Korea and the US.

The missile was fired from a submarine off North Korea’s east coast near Sinpo, officials said, and was reportedly North Korea’s first successful launch after missiles only traveled a small distance in previous tests. The South Korean military accused the North Korean government of using the test to increase military tension during the annual South Korean–US joint military drills, which involve 80,000 South Korean and US troops. North Korea has threatened a preemptive nuclear strike saying the drills were practice for an invasion.

This came on the same day as a meeting between the leaders of China, Japan, and South Korea where, according to Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan, they “urge[d] North Korea to exercise self-restraint regarding its provocative action, and to observe the UN Security Council’s resolutions”. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe called the test’s intrusion into Japan’s air defense identification zone “a grave threat to our country’s security.”

Scientists report chemotherapy cocktail may cause adult women to grow new egg cells

Wednesday, December 7, 2016

Chemotherapy is usually associated with a collection of side effects ranging from digestive problems to hair loss, but a study published this week in Human Reproduction demonstrated that female cancer patients may find they have something in common with much younger women in one specific area — their ovaries.

Scientists from the University of Edinburgh examined donated ovarian tissue from fourteen female cancer patients, most of whom had Hodgkin lymphoma, and compared it to tissue from healthy women. They found the samples from women who had been treated with a specific chemotherapeutic regimen known as ABVD not only contained greater numbers of dormant ova — egg cells — than those from women treated with harsher regimens but also more than samples from healthy women. ABVD is named for combining several drugs known as adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine.

These reproductive cells were not merely more plentiful in ABVD patients. They also appeared immature, “new” in the words of lead researcher Evelyn Telfer. This challenges the conventional belief that girls are born with all the ova they will ever have and the numbers can only go down as the cells are either used up by the reproductive cycle or succumb to damage or natural aging. However, further research is needed to confirm this. The study covered relatively few patients by scientific standards, and David Albertini of the Center for Human Reproduction in New York has suggested the cells may not actually be freshly grown. Instead, they may have always been there and were merely rendered more detectable by ABVD treatment.

The ability to grow new egg cells may have significant implications for women in Western societies, many of whom postpone childbearing to establish careers, sometimes into their late thirties or forties. However, Telfer warns against making use of these findings too soon: “There’s so much we don’t know about the ovary. We have to be very cautious about jumping to clinical applications.”

The experiments had been discussed earlier this year at the annual conference of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.

King of Nepal to restore democracy

Friday, April 21, 2006In an address to the nation, the king of Nepal, Gyanendra said that he was turning the nation pro-democratic.

“We are committed to multi-party democracy and a constitutional monarchy. Executive power of the kingdom of Nepal, which was in our safekeeping, shall from this day be returned to the people. We hope peace and order is restored to the country by protecting multi-party democracy. We ask the seven-party alliance to recommend the name for the post of prime minister at the earliest,” said the king in his address to the nation today.

Girija Prasad Koirala, the former Prime Minister of Nepal and leader of the opposition alliance said he will meet and discuss the announcement made by the king, before responding.

Earlier, United States Ambassador James Moriarty, had said that “his [the king’s] time is running out” and that “ultimately the king will have to leave if he doesn’t compromise. And by ‘ultimately’ I mean sooner rather than later.”

Submitted by: Henrik Sellegard

Prices of properties are becoming more and more attractive on the French Riviera.

In this declining market we start to see some great real estate bargains, but don’t look for a quick flip you should always be thinking long term in south of France. Secondly we are seeing a steady increase of investors and property hunters which can only translate to steady price increase.

So why is the C te d’Azur, often known in English as the French Riviera, that stretches from Cassis in the west to Menton in the east such an attractive area to invest?

First of all we need to look back into the history to get some of these answers.

It began as a winter health resort for the British upper class at the end of the 18th century as one of the first modern resort areas. With the arrival of the railway in the mid-19th century, it became the playground and vacation spot of British, Russian, and other aristocrats. In the summer, it also played home to many members of the Rothschild family. In the first half of the 20th century it was frequented by artists and writers, including Picasso, Matisse, Wharton, as well as wealthy Americans and Europeans. After World War II it became a popular tourist destination and convention site, such as the Cannes Film festival. Many celebrities, such as Elton John and Brigitte Bardot, have homes in the region.

Now with seemingly endless sunny beaches, charming towns, yachts and celebrities keeps the French Riviera alive like no other place in the world. Some of the more fabled destinations are St-Tropez, Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Villefranche-sur-Mer and St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat as coastal areas and St. Paul de Vence, Mougins and Valbonne as back country destinations.

Finally, and probably, one of the most important reasons why so many invest here is the large diversity and number of good quality Michelin stare restaurants with Proven al gastronomy.

So if you’re ready and can look ahead you will find that we have several properties opportunities between St. Tropez and Monaco that are worth your time.

Some of these properties you can find on our website azurvilla.com for the others you can always drop as an email from our website.

Sweden’s Crown Princess marries long-time boyfriend

Monday, June 21, 2010

Sweden’s first royal wedding since 1976 took place Saturday when Crown Princess Victoria, 32, married her long-time boyfriend and former personal trainer, Daniel Westling, 36. The ceremony took place at Stockholm Cathedral.

Over 1,200 guests, including many rulers, politicians, royals and other dignitaries from across the world, attended the wedding, which cost an estimated 20 million Swedish kronor. Victoria wore a wedding dress with five-metre long train designed by Pär Engsheden. She wore the same crown that her mother, Queen Silvia, wore on her wedding day 34 years previously, also on June 19. Victoria’s father, King Carl XVI Gustaf, walked Victoria down the aisle, which was deemed untraditional by many. In Sweden, the bride and groom usually walk down the aisle together, emphasising the country’s views on equality. Victoria met with Daniel half-way to the altar, where they exchanged brief kisses, and, to the sounds of the wedding march, made their way to the the silver altar. She was followed by ten bridesmaids. The couple both had tears in their eyes as they said their vows, and apart from fumbling when they exchanged rings, the ceremony went smoothly.

Following the ceremony, the couple headed a fast-paced procession through central Stockholm on a horse-drawn carriage, flanked by police and security. Up to 500,000 people are thought to have lined the streets. They then boarded the Vasaorden, the same royal barge Victoria’s parents used in their wedding, and traveled through Stockholm’s waters, accompanied by flyover of 18 fighter jets near the end of the procession. A wedding banquet followed in the in the Hall of State of the Royal Palace.

Controversy has surrounded the engagement and wedding between the Crown Princess and Westling, a “commoner”. Victoria met Westling as she was recovering from bulemia in 2002. He owned a chain of gymnasiums and was brought in to help bring Victoria back to full health. Westling was raised in a middle-class family in Ockelbo, in central Sweden. His father managed a social services centre, and his mother worked in a post office. When the relationship was made public, Westling was mocked as an outsider and the king was reportedly horrified at the thought of his daughter marrying a “commoner”, even though he did so when he married Silvia. Last year, Westling underwent transplant surgery for a congenital kidney disorder. The Swedish public have been assured that he will be able to have children and that his illness will not be passed on to his offspring.

Westling underwent years of training to prepare for his new role in the royal family, including lessons in etiquette, elocution, and multi-lingual small talk; and a makeover that saw his hair being cropped short, and his plain-looking glasses and clothes being replaced by designer-wear.

Upon marrying the Crown Princess, Westling took his wife’s ducal title and is granted the style “His Royal Highness”. He is now known as HRH Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland. He also has his own coat-of-arms and monogram. When Victoria assumes the throne and becomes Queen, Daniel will not become King, but assume a supportive role, similar to that of Prince Phillip, the husband of the United Kingdom’s Queen Elizabeth II.
