What You Need To Know About Liposuction

byAlma Abell

Liposuction in Anne Arundel County, MD is a cosmetic surgical procedure; it involves removing the fat from an area of the body using suction. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure; it is however a common procedure that reshapes the body, redefining the contours in those areas where the elimination of fat by exercise and diet is difficult.

The best candidate:

Liposuction in Anne Arundel County, MD is most beneficial to those patients who have achieved weight loss and are at or near their ideal weight but have not been able to achieve the elimination of localized fat deposits that resist all efforts of exercising and dieting. For those who meet this criterion; are in generally good health and preferably a non-smoker with honest and realistic expectations of what to expect, they can benefit from the procedure.

The candidate should also have good muscle tone and good skin elasticity. If the patient has lost a great deal of weight and as a result has a lot of loose, sagging skin, liposuction may make the problem worse. In cases like this the patient may want to consider having the loose skin removed surgically prior to liposuction.

Liposuction cannot:

Liposuction cannot get rid of the 50 pounds or so that you have managed to gain over time. Liposuction normally can remove no more than 10 pounds of fat. Larger amounts of fat can be removed but not without increasing the risk of rippled skin and irregularities in the contours of the body. Liposuction rarely removed cellulite but the industry appears to be getting closer to solving this problem.

Pre-op considerations:

Before the surgeon performs the procedure you will have to subject yourself to a full medical examination which will include a history of your weight and weight loss as well as a full health history. The doctor may have you stop taking certain medications which may include aspirin, herbal supplements or anti-inflammatory drugs for a couple of weeks prior to the procedure.

Recovery:

After a couple of days most patients can return to work if their job is not strenuous. If the job entails strenuous work then the patient should consider staying away from work for two or three weeks until completely healed. Do not subject the areas where insertion took place to any undue stress or strain and if you do experience any pain, contact your doctor.

If you are considering liposuction in Anne Arundel County, MD then you are invited to contact Aesthetic Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery Center.

Disney prohibits LGBT production of Sister Act

Friday, February 16, 2007

Disney has given a thumbs down to a university’s LGBT club stage production of Sister Act. After working six months on the production, the group at Irish university NUI Galway were told to cease production, or suffer the consequences of legal action.

Jeff Rockett, producer of the play, commented to the Irish Times, “We are dumbfounded by Disney’s stance towards what is a charitable, non-profit-making society, aimed at promoting safety and integration for the student LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] community. We were just having fun.”

Reports claim the story was only “loosely based” on the film, and so the play’s producers are investigating with lawyers what changes can be made, to make the production completely independent of the original concept.

Galway’s Town Hall Theatre will refund tickets to the production.

An officially licensed Sister Act: The Musical is on stage in Atlanta, before making its way to Broadway.

Ford’s US auto sales spike, surpassing GM

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Ford Motor Company said on Tuesday that its sales in the United States rose 43% in February compared to the same period last year, as the automaker outsold rivals Toyota and General Motors.

The strength of our new products … are resonating with customers

Ford said that total sales improved to 142,285 units, compared to 141,951 units sold by GM. Additionally, Ford said that its share of the total US car market rose to 17%, up from 14% a year ago. The increase was better than analysts had predicted, and Ford’s stock rose to a five-year high in morning trading, before declining later in the day. Ford’s sales were significantly influenced by a 74% increase in fleet sales to businesses. Rental car agencies alone accounted for around 30,000 units sold. Sales to retail consumers increased only 28%.

The increases were led by sales of two sedans, the Fusion and Taurus, which rose 166.5 and 93.3% respectively, although sales of other models such as SUVs and pickup trucks also increased. Both models were significantly redesigned last year, and analysts said that improved quality from such cars were driving the increases.

Other companies also reported February sales today, nearly all reporting sales gains as well, although none as large as those of Ford. Toyota was the sole exception to the sales gains, as their sales declined 8.7%, as the company was faced with a global recall during the month that led to a temporary stoppage of production for some models.

“The strength of our new products … are resonating with customers,” said Ken Czubay, Ford’s vice president of sales and marketing. However, he believed that traditional Toyota customers were not buying rival autos, but rather awaiting the results from the recalls.

The Healing Hands Of A Chiropractor

Submitted by: Apex Chiroaz

If an individual is required to stay active, the presence of these types of dysfunctions can disable you from performing well and limit your motor capacity. This is because of the fact that any form of movement to the damaged area of the body, or change in the nerve system, can result in pain and discomfort. Most Chiropractors will recommend this to help your body respond to their care as best as possible. However, there is so much more that a Cape Girardeau Chiropractic Clinic can do for them.

The benefits for people with dysfunction in the nervous system go well beyond the musculoskeletal system and many people receive these types of additional highlights as well. If we wire everything at the lowest possible level of result meaning with two dozen poles dipped in the water, even if each pole only brought in 1-3 new patients each, you’d be virtually guaranteed 24 new patients that month at a minimum. That was followed up with 5 new patients yesterday. It’s funny because when we ask how they heard of our office each one of them was from a different “pole . These problems can lead to imperfect structure of the spinal cord, which results in a number of diseases.

Also, some children have spinal malfunction since their birth. Lower back pain can be a condition related to sprain or strain of the area due to many factors, including but not limited to physical trauma; mechanical, inflammatory, neoclassic, metabolic disorders, and many other types of degenerative diseases; or even mental illness such as depression. These discs allow the movement of the vertebrae and act as shock absorbers. If any of these vertebrae or discs become out of alignment, the surrounding tissues, muscles, and nerves can become irritated and/or inflamed, resulting in pain and discomfort. With the information necessary to successfully choose a course of treatment that meets their needs and addresses their desires for quick help with back pain, a full recovery can be achieved.

Many chiropractors who fail to conceptualize a business plan find themselves struggling as they don’t have a consistent chiropractic business model that delivers results. As a consequence, there is less competition, higher prices and less service. Insurance coverage for chiropractic has fallen by as much as 50% for some plans. In addition, high deductible plans are now much more common. This basically means designing a low overhead chiropractic office. This can be done much easier today thanks to advances in the internet and wireless devices.

Chiropractors must integrate available technology tools to help reduce their overhead. These physicians perform a kind of therapy with special emphasis on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. Chiropractors use a lot of techniques to help their patients get rid of joints pains and body aches. However, if you are not familiar with this kind of treatment here is a little information about a few the latest additions to the varied range of chiropractic cure is the use of lasers.

US Congresswoman Jackie Speier comments about Obamacare, Paralympics

Saturday, November 9, 2013

With the 2014 Winter Paralympics set for March, Wikinews sought comment from U.S. Representative Jackie Speier, who serves California’s 14th congressional district about the event and how current U.S. policies impact people with disabilities. Elected to the U.S. House in 2008, she serves on the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the House Armed Services Committee. For the first time ever, the Paralympics will be broadcast live in the U.S. on network television.

((Wikinews)) : Will “Obamacare” have a positive or negative impact on the lives of people with disabilities?

Jackie Speier: By-and-large the Affordable Care Act will have a significant and lasting beneficial impact on persons with disabilities […] Most importantly, pre-existing conditions will no longer prevent persons with disabilities from obtaining health insurance. Lifetime limits on medical expenses will be removed and preventive services will be free. All of these provisions of the law create health insurance that is highly supportive of good health outcomes for everyone, but in particular for those who have a disability.

((WN)) : Are there any Paralympic athletes or elite athletes with disabilities from your district that people should know more about?

Jackie Speier: There are currently two Paralympic athletes who train or live in my district that people will definitely hear more about in the coming years. One is a young woman named Allie Hyatt who trains in Judo with Willy Cahill, [whom] I have also trained with. Allie, who is visually impaired and just 15, has already won numerous awards and will participate in the Youth Olympic Games next year. She is sure to be a force in the Judo world for many, many years. Hyatt lives in San Francisco and Cahill is the founder and CEO of the Blind Judo Foundation.

Another great athlete is Mohamend Lahna who is training for the Rio Olympics in 2016 for the paratriathlon,” Speier continued. “He is from Morocco originally but lives now in San Mateo and trains daily at the College of San Mateo. He runs marathons with a prosthetic leg and has his sights set on winning several medals atworld and Olympic events in the future. Lahna has proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD), a birth defect that affects the hip and pelvis. He is married and has a 1-year-old child.

Wikinews also sought comment from other members of Congress, including John K. Delaney, Mike Honda, Kyrsten Sinema, Eric Swalwell, Raúl M. Grijalva and Ann Kirkpatrick but at publication time, had received no response.

Schweinsteiger announces retirement from international football

Monday, August 1, 2016

On Friday, German football captain and Manchester United F.C. midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger announced retirement from international football.

Debuting in 2004, Schweinsteiger has won 120 international caps, Germany’s fourth all time most capped player. He was part of the German squad for the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament in France and became the first German to play eighteen Euro matches, surpassing the fourteen-match record of Philip Lahm. Schweinsteiger has played in four Euro tournaments — 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016.

Schweinsteiger said, “I have asked the national team coach to not consider me for Germany selection in future, as I would like to step down from the national team. I would like to thank the fans, the team, the DFB, the coaches and the national team’s backroom staff.” ((de))German language: ?ich habe soeben den Bundestrainer gebeten, mich in Zukunft bei der Nominierung für die Nationalmannschaft nicht mehr zu berücksichtigen, da ich gerne zurücktreten möchte. He has played 38 matches in major international tournaments, which is a world record. Schweinsteiger’s last match in Germany’s jersey ended in a 2–0 defeat against France in the Euro 2016 semi-final.

England: Baby born with heart outside body operated on; surviving, three weeks after birth

Friday, December 15, 2017

On Tuesday, parents of baby Vanellope Hope Wilkins and representatives of Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, England reported to the press that Vanellope has survived three weeks after being born with her heart outside her chest, a rare birth defect known as ectopia cordis. She has been operated on three times, initially less than an hour after her birth on November 22, and will need further surgery; doctors believe she is the first baby in the United Kingdom to survive being born with the condition.

Vanellope’s parents, Naomi Findlay and Dean Wilkins, live in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire; Vanellope is Naomi’s third child. They learnt about the defect from a prenatal scan, but opted not to terminate the pregnancy. She was delivered prematurely by caesarian section by 50 people including four teams, placed in a sterile plastic bag and operated on 50 minutes later for the first of three times so far. Frances Bu’Lock, a consultant paediatric cardiologist at Glenfield, noted that unlike some cases of ectopia cordis, she does not have any heart defect or other displaced organs; at nine weeks, part of her stomach also protruded, but by sixteen weeks, only her heart was affected. Dr. Bu’Lock had originally told her parents she had only a “remote” chance of surviving.

Ectopia cordis is very rare and reportedly occurs in fewer than eight of every million babies born alive. It usually leads to a stillbirth when the pregnancy is not terminated, and with the likelihood of other associated congenital defects, plus the risk of infection, Vanellope’s survival is very unusual. Dr. Martin Ward-Platt, a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, stated “we wouldn’t expect a case like this to happen in the UK more often than once every five to 10 years.”

Her mother said they called her Vanellope after a character in the Disney film Wreck-It Ralph because she was born with “a glitch”.

Tips On Choosing A Pure Bred Pet

Submitted by: Bart LeToad

It’s an all too familiar scene; a family walks into the pet store to look at the cute kittens and puppies. And when they leave they are the proud owner of one of those cute puppies or kittens. Swept away by the emotions of that cute little dog bouncing in the window or the soft meow of that precious little kitten. We all know that once you hold that cute little puppy that it’s hard to put down. But sometimes an impulsive buy like this can mean a long and hard road of frustration and pain for you and your pet. That is why a family would be better served to spend a little time doing research on the particular breed of dog or cat they are considering as their new family member.

When considering a purebred puppy. One thing you can be sure of is the inherent characteristics of that particular breed. When a family is considering bringing a purebred into their home, they may need to consider the breeds characteristics and whether they will suit the family personality. For example, buying a breed of dog that requires lots of exercise and activity when you’re family is not an active family will only result in a pet that is under stimulated and hard to control.

Unfortunately, the number one reason competent pet owners take their pets to the local humane service is because they bought their pet based on emotional decision, rather than an informed one. And now they don’t like the dog they’ve ended up with. What if the shoe was on the other foot and it was the dogs giving up their owners because they didn’t like the way the owners turned out. It doesn’t matter what the problem is, from chewing your shoes or the arm of your leather chair to something major like snapping at your child or attacking other pets. This behavior only increases the frustration level for both the owners and the pets and will result in the breaking of both the owners and the pets heart.

Stay smart about your research in particular what breed you want to bring home. If you are interested in buying a Labrador retriever, the last person you want to rely on for that breeds information is the person you are buying a puppy from. They have an interest in promoting the sale of their animal they may tell you what you want to hear to help them achieve the sale. Seek out independent sources using places like the Internet or your local library. Contact the AKC or visit their website and look at all the information they have on the particular breed you want. Make sure your research things like size and weight, health problems, amount of exercise and is your breed going to shed a lot. These things are just the tip of the iceberg. So we have provided you a list that you can take with you when you are researching your particular breed.

1. Does the dog shed a lot?

2. How much food will have to buy each month?

3. Are they easily trainable or are you going to exert a lot of effort?

4. Are they easy to potty train?

5. Will a weekly brushing work or do they had to be groomed by a professional groomer?

6. Does the breed bark a lot or only when provoked?

7. Is the breed overly protective?

8. Does the breed require any out of the ordinary care?

9. Is the breed easily socialized?

10. Is the breed temperamental?

11. How big is the breed going to get or how small is it going to stay?

12. Are they a family dog and will they get along with your children?

13. How long can you expect him to be a family member?

Using the tips that we’ve given you here along with your sound judgment should enable you to pick the breed of dog that will best suit you and your family’s personality. Remember to make an informed decision rather than a spur of the moment emotional one. By doing this you and your family will have chosen the best friend of a lifetime you could have and in return you will receive unconditional love.

Despite passage of bailout bill, two US states may need loans

Sunday, October 5, 2008

Despite the passage of a 700 billion USD bill by the United States House of Representatives on Friday and the Senate on Wednesday, two U.S. states may need loans totaling over 14 billion dollars.

California and Massachusetts are seeking at least 7 billion dollars each from the federal government as loans. Officials and lawmakers in both states say that the loans would be temporary.

According to Massachusetts’ state treasurer, Timothy P. Cahill, the state was unable to borrow money last week on a short term loan. He also states that the state can afford to pay its bills and debts for the next few weeks, but not beyond that without a short-term loan from the government. Cahill has asked the federal government for a loan similar to the recent one passed by Congress and the Senate.

“That’s all we would ask them to do: Treat us like the investment banks,” said Cahill to the Associated Press.

Officials in California say they need an emergency loan, or they will run out of money by the end of October. California’s governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger said the state is “not out of the woods” and needs a short term loan from the government.

“California and other states may be unable to obtain the necessary level of financing to maintain government operations and may be forced to turn to the federal treasury for short-term financing,” said Schwarzenegger in a letter to the Treasury Department, which is taking the letter under consideration.

On Friday, the U.S. House of Representative voted to pass a revised bailout bill which included raising the FDIC insurance cap to $250,000, a move designed to please progressives. However, the $110 billion in tax breaks, earmarks and what has been called pork barrel spending is not offset by any increases in revenues and has added opposition to the bill from some Representatives in the House. Earmarks added into the bailout bill included $192 million in tax rebates for the Virgin Islands rum industry, $148 million in tax cuts for the wool industry, $100 million tax cuts to the auto racing industry, and $48 million in Hollywood tax incentives, among others.

Motorola to launch iTunes mobile phone

Friday, April 22, 2005

Motorola has recently confirmed plans that it will launch an iTunes compatible mobile phone. The firm, which released quarterly results on Friday, revealed that the phone would be available in a few months time.

There had been speculation that the wireless communications giant would scrap the phone after an underwhelming response from US operators, however CEO Ed Zander confirmed the company’s intentions at the results presentation.

The phone, when launched, will allow users to easily download digital music from Apple’s popular iTunes music store onto their handset. The combination of mobile phone and MP3 player is a long awaited example of the much touted “technological convergence” often mentioned by the industry’s CEO’s.

Wikinews will have a reporter live at Apple’s WWDC keynote (when the software is likely to be released) on June 6 to cover the event.
